Calvary Supper of Federal Way

Calvary Supper serves a free dinner every Thursday evening at the Calvary Lutheran Church in Federal Way, and as the winter months ensue, receiving a hot meal will be extremely important to those in need. "I lost my job and my apartment. This food really helps, especially in the winter," says Bruce, a client of the meal program.

"We serve mostly homeless and low income individuals, although the meal is open to anyone," says Phyllis Dirks, Food and Menu Coordinator for Calvary Supper. “Our numbers keep climbing. We are seeing more people who are homeless or have stretched budgets so they come here to eat.”

"This meal helps stretch my food stamps. I have four children to care for and medical bills to pay. I need this meal," says Cynthia, also a visitor of Calvary Supper of Federal Way, a Food Lifeline member agency. Providing nutrition for people living on the street or those who are without a meal, is the mission of this program, and not only do these clients appreciate these meals, but they depend on them.

A Thanksgiving meal is planned for November 25th, and a group is hard at work knitting hats and scarves to give to Calvary Supper guests on Christmas. "The people from the congregation are very generous," Dirks says.

The support of the local community in Federal Way is a small glimpse of the generosity we see within our network. We are all pulling together more than ever to help people in need, and this collective support couldn’t have come at a better time. Thank you for your continued commitment to our mission
