FOOD & FUND DRIVES
GROCERY STORE FOOD & FUND COLLECTION
What better place to collect food and funds than right outside your local grocery store? Neighbors are going in to buy food anyway, so suggest they purchase a few extra items for your drive. Or, ask them to get a little cash back at the register to share with Food Lifeline and the hungry families we serve.
Process:
- Identify a store where you would like to do your collection and register your drive with Food Lifeline to avoid conflict with another drive at that store.
- Secure approval from the store to collect food and funds at their entrance.
- Submit any flyers or posters to Food Lifeline for approval.
- Pick up collection materials from Food Lifeline (boxes, fact sheets, donation envelopes, etc.)
- Collect food & funds.
- Deliver food & funds to Food Lifeline’s Shoreline Repack Center.
Helpful Hints:
- Do your collection with two or three other people – enough to catch customers’ attention and give each other breaks, but not so many that you are intimidating.
- Have information about Food Lifeline available to distribute.
- Plan to be at the store for 4 to 6 hours to maximize your collection efforts.
- Make sure that you are able to transport the food you collect.
