FOOD & FUND DRIVES

GROCERY STORE FOOD & FUND COLLECTION

What better place to collect food and funds than right outside your local grocery store?  Neighbors are going in to buy food anyway, so suggest they purchase a few extra items for your drive.  Or, ask them to get a little cash back at the register to share with Food Lifeline and the hungry families we serve.

Process:

  1. Identify a store where you would like to do your collection and register your drive with Food Lifeline to avoid conflict with another drive at that store.
  2. Secure approval from the store to collect food and funds at their entrance.
  3. Submit any flyers or posters to Food Lifeline for approval.
  4. Pick up collection materials from Food Lifeline (boxes, fact sheets, donation envelopes, etc.)
  5. Collect food & funds.
  6. Deliver food & funds to Food Lifeline’s Shoreline Repack Center.

Helpful Hints:

  • Do your collection with two or three other people – enough to catch customers’ attention and give each other breaks, but not so many that you are intimidating.
  • Have information about Food Lifeline available to distribute.
  • Plan to be at the store for 4 to 6 hours to maximize your collection efforts.
  • Make sure that you are able to transport the food you collect.
