Your neighbors can be a wonderful resource for providing food & funds to benefit Food Lifeline. A door-to-door drive means convenience for your donors, who never have to leave their homes to take part.
Pick up donation envelopes from Food Lifeline to distribute with your bags or plan to encourage Virtual Food Drive contributions.
Create a flyer to distribute in advance of the bags, or to deliver with the bags, instructing neighbors both how to donate food and how to donate funds online or via an attached envelope to mail in.
Submit the flyer to Food Lifeline for approval; we can also supply our logo for you to include.
Distribute the flyer and bags.
Collect the donations.
Contact Food Lifeline and deliver the donations to the Shoreline Repack Center.
Restrict your efforts to a reasonable geographic area – if not your own neighborhood, then perhaps one that your group has an affiliation with.
Deliver the flyer and bags far enough in advance that people have time to put together their donation, but not so far in advance that they might forget to leave their donation out. Ideally this time frame should be a week or less.
