FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
America’s pork producers have officially been encouraging families to enjoy meals together for the last 14 years. Whether it’s dinner, breakfast or a weekend brunch, National Eat Together Week (recently celebrated on September 20-26, 2009), encourages families to eat together WHENEVER they can.
This year, in an attempt to make sure those in need can enjoy a meal together too, the National Pork Board partnered with Feeding America, the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief charity, encouraging moms and families alike to “click for a cause”. During National Eat Together Week for every recipe printed or shared via TheOtherWhiteMeat.com, America’s pork producers donated five pounds of pork (which according to the National Pork Board equals about 25 meals) to a food bank in need.
Join Food Lifeline, a member of the Feeding America network, when they receive the final contribution delivery on WEDNESDAY, October 7 at 10 a.m. The hunger relief organization is located at 4011 6th Avenue South, Seattle, Washington 98108.
America’s 70,000 pork producers help feed the world and are committed to ending hunger by supporting local food banks. The pork provided in Seattle equals nearly 20,000 meals for families in need (according to the National Pork Board).
