We Broke Records Again in Our Fiscal Year 2011

It happened again. We were able to break records in our mission to end hunger! Last year, nearly 9,000 volunteers donated over 43,000 hours of their time—which is the equivalent of more than 20 full time employees. Thank you for truly giving us the support we need to get food out the door and into the hands of hungry people. If you didn’t get the chance to volunteer, sign up today—or, if you’re short on time this holiday season, a small donation goes a long way.

In addition, we also distributed more than 35 million pounds of food and groceries last year, which is the equivalent of over 27 million meals—another record broken!

Unfortunately, there are some records we wish we didn’t break. Last year, we served more than 745,000 hungry people in local communities. This is more than ever before, and is enough people to fill over 11 Century Link Stadiums. Of the people we serve, we saw a staggering 30% increase in the number of seniors needing our help over the previous year.

"Your continued support is an inspiration for all of us. Whether you volunteer, host a food drive to fill plates or give funds to help us bring in more food, you’re helping us end hunger, one meal at a time," says Linda Nageotte, Food Lifeline President & CEO.
