Volunteering is for All Ages

Maybe you’re a little too old for playing with dolls and toy trucks. Maybe you’re just getting ready to enter high school, but you aren’t yet old enough for your own car or a full time job. For all the young adults and teens out there looking for activities to keep you busy, don't worry because Food Lifeline has plenty of volunteer opportunities for you!

With so many local high schools requiring community service hours as a graduation requirement, Food Lifeline has plenty of options for you (if you’re a teenager) or your child to volunteer.  High school students currently volunteer with us as Food Rescue Assistants, (going out to local grocery stores with our truck drivers to pick up food donations) as warehouse volunteers (inspecting, sorting and repacking food for distribution) and in our office helping with clerical and administrative projects.

You can help us feed hungry people and support our mission no matter what your age is. Family Volunteer Day is Saturday, September 19th with sessions from 9:00-noon and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.  Families are invited to help in the warehouse to sort, label and repack food for distribution.  Volunteers must be at least 6 years old to participate, and pre-registration is required.

To find out more about year-round volunteer options for high school students, or to register your family for Family Volunteer Day, please contact Karen via email.
